Mini Festival Timetable

Monday 5th- Sunday 11th October

Events are FREE and open to everyone (however, donations very welcome. Suggested donation for each event is the price of a pint of beer!). Please register interest by email so that we can send you further info.

Monday 5th- Friday 9th October: Every morning- commute from Owen's Park to University with a qualified cycling instructor. Meet other cyclists and get cycle confidence tips!!

Monday 5th October

7pm Bike Film Night at the Lass O Gowrie Pub (upstairs) BELLEVILLE RENDEZVOUS

The Lass O Gowrie not only have delicious ales but they also have a snug room upstairs with a big screen that we can watch well ace films on. This is the start of a new monthly film night event! (free, everyone welcome, food available)

Tuesday 6th October

5:30pm Meet on the steps outside Manchester University Students Union. Bike History and Landmark Tour of MCR.

We shall ride around the city stopping off at points of interest where historians and locals will tell the story of the landmark.

For example we shall visit the site of the old Fallowfield Velodrome and be told by an old rider of it what it was like. We shall also visit the bicycle exhibition in MOSI and the Manchester branch of the Veteran Cycle Club will share some stories.

We shall also be finding bike shops, off road routes, important landmarks and a nice pub

Wednesday 7th October

12pm Cycle Confidence classes (email to reserve a place)
5-6pm Velodrome Taster (places are very limited, book asap to avoid disappointment)
6pm The Spokes Bike Dance Troupe open acrobalance session
7pm Bike Art workshop (including banner making, subvertising, sculpture) in the Boathouse at Platt Fields Park (opposite Owen's Park Campus)
8.30pm Meet at Owens Park on Oxford Road for Bike Art Ride (bring streamers and stuff to decorate your bike with). Then we shall ride to UMSU for...
9.45pm The Spokes Bike Dance Troupe, Pedal Powered party with live music and dance at UMSU (as part of UMSU Go Green Week)

Thursday 8th October

6pm-8pm Bike Maintenance class (Please book early as places are limited!)
2 maintenance classes shall take place; one advanced and one beginners, please state which you would like to attend when you email to book

6pm Manley park, Clarenden Road, M16.
Introduction to Bike Polo. Whether you're a beginner or a veteran, come along and play. We have mallets or bring your own.

Friday 9th October

6pm Meet outside Bicycle Boutique, Hilton Street (behind Sandbar)

A brand new addition to the I Bike MCR mini festival this year is the Magical Mystery Time Trial on Friday 9th October. Meet at 6pm outside Bicycle Boutique, Hilton street to register then everyone will be put in an old Routemaster bus where you shall be driven to a secret destination and flung out with your bike and a map and you shall have to race back...first back wins prizes...sound too good to be true? yes well it actually is true..it will be fecking ACES...

Saturday 10th October

Noon Unicorn Carpark, Chorlton. I Bike MCR CC road ride round Cheshire. 60 miles at a reasonable pace. (route shall be kind to fixed gear riders)
12-2pm in Chorlton (email for directions) Open Bike Play with The Spokes Bike Dance Troupe

Sunday 11th October

1pm outside sandbar, grosvenor street
Ride To The Revolution Alleycat Race

Pairs race around the city visiting various checkpoints and completing revolutionary tasks.

Fancy dress as your favourite revolutionary for extra points and prizes.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams to complete checkpoints in fastest times; best fancy dress; most additional missions completed.
